  1. Coffee is one of the things I’m deeply grateful for.

I really wouldn’t want to miss it.
So I try not to waste a single drop of it.
Because wasting is ungratefulness “in action”.

Sometimes I catch myself hastily gulping it down, momentarily distracted, unaware that it’s COFFEE I’m wasting by unconsciously puring it down my throat. I might as well be puring it down the sink. Then I stop, take a deep breath, slow myself down, become aware… take a sip and say a heartfelt “Alhamdulillah”… for the blessing of coffee and the regained awareness.

In these kind of situations I remember the lines
“I’m sure you won’t dream of trying to escape from your obligations by fleeing the city. I judge you to be a born city person. But you may be sure that the lords of the other cities will be appraised of these conditions by nightfall.”
“I assure you the thought never even crossed my mind, Lord.”
“Indeed? Then if I were you I’d sue my face for slander.” (Terry Pratchett, “The Color of Magic”)

I say to myself: “Grateful? Really? If I were you, I’d sue my actions for slander.”
They often betray the true state of our heart…

And then I try really hard not to waste any of it.
I really wouldn’t want to miss it.
